This policy explains how Guitar Brain ("the app") handles your data. The short version: everything you put into the app stays on your device, and we don't collect any of it. Guitar Brain is developed and operated by an individual developer, whose name and postal address are in the legal notice, and who is contactable at [email protected].
What stays on your device
- Your song library: the song titles and artists, capo positions, chord progressions, strumming patterns, notes and tempos you add.
- Images you attach to a song: up to three photos per song — a chord chart, tab or lyric sheet, for example. Each image is re-encoded on your device as you attach it, which strips embedded EXIF metadata such as GPS coordinates and camera details.
- Your settings: language, theme, default tempo and similar preferences.
There are no accounts. The app does not send your songs, images or settings to us or to anyone else, and it works without an internet connection.
We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, crash reports or any other data about you or how you use the app.
Backups
If your device backs up app data — through iCloud or Google, for example — that backup can include your Guitar Brain library. Those backups are made by your device under your own account with Apple or Google, and are governed by their terms. We have no access to them.
Deleting your data
You can delete any song in the app, which also deletes its images. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your device.
When you write to us
If you email us — for example with Contact Support in the app's settings — we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. A message started from the app already contains the app's version and your device's operating system version, so we can help faster; you can see that line and delete it before you send.
We use your email only to answer you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in replying to your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Mail sent to [email protected] is received by Cloudflare, which forwards it to our mailbox at Google (Gmail). We delete the conversation once your question is settled, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
Your rights
Apart from emails you send us, we don't collect or hold any personal data about you — everything else is on your device, under your control. For your emails you can ask us at any time what we have, and have it corrected or deleted. Under the GDPR you keep the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, and you are welcome to ask us any question about this policy at [email protected].
Children
Guitar Brain is not directed at children under 16.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example because the app gains a feature that sends data anywhere — the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date before that feature is released.
